Tropical Traditions – Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Review

TropicalTraditionsPicture

I’m a huge fan of coconut oil, it’s a regular staple in my diet. I eat a small spoonful of coconut oil almost every day because it tastes so good, and the health benefits I have personally found are very noticeable.  I use coconut oil in my baking, soups, and also for things like frying eggs, and other things because coconut oil stands up so well to heat. I also find that it works great as a face moisturizer and lip balm.

Tropical Traditions- Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is certified Organic, with USDA certification, and is non-GMO, and originates from the Philippines. The Gold-Label Virgin Coconut Oil brand from Tropical Traditions is Hand-made, not machine-made (as some of their other lines are), with No chemical solvents used in processing.

My Findings: The virgin coconut oil tasted really good! I loved the texture and creaminess of it. I have tried numerous coconut oils and a lot them have a really bad chemical after taste.. yuck. Not so with Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. It does have a little bit of the scent and taste of coconuts, and that might take a bit of getting used to for those unaccustomed. Other lines of coconut oil  might use deodorizers and other methods to remove the natural taste that gives it a more bland, neutral flavor. Personally, I’m all for as “unrefined” and “natural” as possible, which is exactly what this Coconut Oil delivers!

About Tropical Traditions:

Our family moved to the Philippines in 1998. We renovated Marianita’s old family farm house up on Mt. Banahaw, in a rural farming community. We learned much about the way Marianita’s parent’s generation approached health, using native herbs and fruits to deal with common illnesses. One thing that intrigued me was that the older generation was very active, often still farming, and yet their only dietary oil was coconut oil, often hand made the traditional way. This led me to investigate the whole issue of fats and oils. I soon discovered that coconut oil had a long tradition of being a healthy oil, and that it was wrongly accused of being bad in western countries simply because it was a saturated fat. Politics were the main reason coconut oil fell out of favor in western countries like the U.S. – not science. So we started making it ourselves using the traditional method her parent’s generation used. We put these products up on the Internet in 2000, thinking that the Philippine herbs would be our most popular product line. Before long, however, demand for our traditional method of making coconut oil by hand overwhelmed us. The coconut oil revolution had begun.

How are Products Chosen for Tropical Traditions?

We have a strong commitment to family farming and organic standards. We stand firmly against genetically modified foods (No GMOs). But the organic label is not enough for us. We research and find out where the products are produced, and how they are produced. We find that some organic standards too loose for our trust, so we look beyond what is claimed on a label. We find out as much as possible about those who provide the products. And if a certain quality of product does not exist, we will work with others to produce that product and offer it to our consumers. We did that with Virgin Coconut Oil in the Philippines, and we have done the same thing since coming back to live here in the US.

Blacks-3

This “Fur Baby Friday” features my oldest fur baby named “Blacks.” Blacks makes me laugh with her sassy attitude. I sometimes think she was royalty in her past life. LOL… Blacks also let’s me know when I am cooking beef or chicken, that I must stop what I’m doing, and give her a sample as if to say “Got Beef or Chicken Mom?” I also like to call Blacks my Witchy Kitty. *smile*

Blacks just turned sixteen in March and has been a wonderful cat. So far, she has not had any health issues (knock on wood).

I hope everyone enjoys my photos of Blacks that I have posted on this Fur Baby Friday!

There has been a LOT of rain in my area lately, so I thought I’d grab my camera and head towards the action. I didn’t see much flooding (thank goodness), but while I was out, I was able to shoot a couple of pictures of this cute little sweetie-pie who was hanging out near the river bank. I’m not sure what he is, possibly a muskrat? I didn’t get to see what his tail looked like, he was kind of camera shy.

Twenty Four year old Charlotte Hothman, from Manchester England is obsessed with Barbie. She has gone as far as spending £10,000 to look just like the plastic doll. Charlotte has had a nose job, collagen in her lips, and dyed her hair blonde to turn herself into a human version of Barbie.

‘Boys don’t like it that I love Barbie so much. But I don’t mind. ‘If the right man comes along, he’ll love me and my Barbies.’

The promotions girl, from Manchester, told The Sun: ‘I told the clinic I would love to look like Barbie. ‘It was really painful. My face was bruised afterwards and it took weeks for the swelling to go down. ‘But when I took the bandages off it was well worth it. Then I dyed my hair blonde. ‘It’s completely changed by appearance and I think it looks pretty good. ‘Some people think it’s a little weird, but I think it’s great.’

I would personally recommend looking into the HCG protocol for anyone who wants to lose weight fast, and without killing themselves in the gym! – Very exciting stuff.

UPDATE (April 25, 2012): So I’m done the phase 1 & 2 (of my second round) and I’m now onto phase 3 (the maintenance phase). My weight is now stabilized, and my total weight loss this round was 21 lbs. So, combined with the first round that I did, where I lost 20 lbs, I have lost a TOTAL of 41 lbs! Nothing I’ve ever tried before (including high impact interval training, and every diet known to woman) has ever worked as well as HCG did for for me. I’m VERY impressed, and glad to have found out about it!

I have recently started a new weight loss program called The HCG protocol. I love that this weight loss program fits so well into my lifestyle. This is the second time that I have done the HCG protocol and so far I have lost 5.2 pounds in only 5 days. The first time I did this diet, I lost a total of 20 pounds and it worked fantastically. I am actually a slow loser because most people lose on average 1 – 1.5 pounds per day from what I have read. My fiance lost over 30 pounds after his first round.

Unfortunately after my first round, I gave in to my huge weakness for sweets and I ended up putting 10 pounds back on after I finished the program. I have now decided to go back on the program for the second time, and I hope to keep the weight off and NOT indulge in “as many sweets” when I’m finished the diet.

This is NOT a fad diet, or a “diet of the week.” It has been used since the 1950′s and 1960′s on the well-to-do, high society, and wealthy elite. If any of you are interested in the The HCG protocol you can search “The HCG Protocol” with your favorite search engine, there are lots of really great websites out there that explain what The HCG protocol is all about. I would strongly suggest also finding a copy of the original “Pounds and Inches” that was written by Dr. ATW Simeons, MD for the original unaltered material.

Kate, The Blog Diva’s Book Review Of “Seducing the Duchess” (5 Stars Out Of 5)

What would you do to try and capture your wife’s heart once again? Would you send her flowers, write her a poem, or what about going as far as kidnapping her in front of society’s upper class? That is exactly what the Duke of Rutherford does. He kidnaps his wife back to win her love. The Duke of Rutherford realizes that his only true love is his wife Charlotte and not his mistresses. He broke her heart by telling her on their first night of their marriage that he only married her to get revenge on her brother. Will Charlotte give Phillip another chance? Will she let herself fall in love with him again or will she leave him for good?

A wonderful debut novel written by Ashley March. “Seducing the Duchess” is a perfect love story of a husband who will do anything to win his wife’s heart back. Passionate love, and long slow kisses will stir all of your romantic desires while you read this novel. This novel has it all, and was written perfectly to capture every women’s heart. A great novel to read with a warm cup of tea curled up in front of the fireplace.

I think I have died and gone to heaven! I absolutely love these awesome hand painted cat high heels. As good as they look though, the price tag is pretty steep. Please sit down before I reveal the price to you, because I just about fell out of my chair. I know they are hand crafted and all, but these babies will set you back $429.00!! Yes, you read that right, $429.00 US dollars. Maybe if I win the lottery I can buy myself a pair of these high heels, and strut around in them. Until then I’ll just have to just waiting… LOL..

Studio Jellyfish just adopted a new kitten! She is a black cat with bright green eyes and is always snuggling up next to our feet! She loves to be around people and her bright pink nose can be seen from across the room! She is a born shoe lover just like us! We LOVE our new kitten!

Feeling a little SASSY (and rich)? How about these babies? Only $928.00!! ;)

Every Saturday morning I wake early, pour some fresh coffee int my favorite pink mug, and head out with my mom to hunt down the deals at neighborhood yard sales.

Today I found these cute high heels. The asking price was $5.00, but I bargained them down to $3.00. I’m such a bargain girl when it comes to yard sales. No matter what the price, I’m always try to get a better deal. ;-)

These shoes are going to look awesome with my summer dresses and shorts.

This “Fur Baby Friday” features my fur baby Bouncer. Bouncer is the only male cat amongst my fur babies, and he is the most talkative of the bunch. Bouncer loves attention and will do anything to get your attention. Bouncer also love to snore real load, I mean, REAL LOUD. He can out-snore most humans I’m sure. I honestly had no idea that a cat could snore that loud until Bouncer came into my life. LOL.. I hope you all enjoy my fur baby Bouncer’s photos, he is quite the stud muffin. LOL!
